Architecture

Architecture is intimately bound to the history and development of culture and is a prime agent in technological, artistic and social change. Architecture at the University of Queensland has a strong commitment to the development of an architectural language drawn around issues of construction, materiality and the poetics of space.
The Architecture program is noted for the quality of its courses, the calibre of its staff and the achievement of its graduates. The focus of the undergraduate program is the teaching of architectural design through studio based projects. The projects involve the application and integration of the knowledge and skills acquired from supporting subjects. The strength in design achievement can be measured by the many awards and prizes won by students and staff in architectural competitions. Other key strengths of the program are in the teaching of environmental design, architectural technology and architectural history and theory.
